NEQCA Awarded Harvard Pilgrim Grant to support Behavioral Health Services on Cape Cod
May 10, 2016
For the 5th consecutive year, New England Quality Care Alliance (NEQCA) has been awarded a Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (HPHC) Quality Grant to pilot an innovative approach to support behavioral health for adult patients, build capacity and address behavioral health needs on Cape Cod.
NEQCA has received $75,000 in funding to 1) link adults with community behavioral health and 2) pilot direct services to patients through an Adult Behavioral Health Program.
This pilot will build upon NEQCA’s successful Pediatric Behavioral Health Program, funded by a 2014 HPHC Quality Grant. NEQCA will utilize the $75,000 it has been awarded through a new grant to develop a comprehensive approach that will link adults with behavioral health needs to necessary treatments and services. The funding will target two specific Cape Cod practices with the NEQCA network, Bickford Health Associates, P.C. and Brewster Medical Associates P.C.
As part of the grant, NEQCA will partner with Gosnold, a nationally accredited addiction and mental health treatment provider that offers a full continuum of behavioral health prevention, treatment and recovery management services including inpatient and outpatient treatments. Gosnold clinicians, certified in primary care/behavioral integration through the UMass Medical School, will provide Behavioral Health (BH) interventions, consultations, screening and other therapeutic services critical to the care of this patient population. "We are very excited to partner with NECQA in this innovative approach to integrate behavioral health into primary care,” said Catherine Dotolo, LICSW, Director of Primary Care Integration, Gosnold.
“We are pleased to receive this grant from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care,” said Dr. Patricia Toro, Medical Director, NEQCA. “Our Cape Cod practices have a significant burden of disease in behavioral health, at rates higher than many other groups across our network. Piloting this program with these practices will allow them to provide the necessary and needed behavioral health care to their patients, as well as allow us to develop and pilot this service for our entire network. ”
NEQCA is one of 16 groups who received this competitive grant from HPHC. These are highly competitive grants, with over 34 groups who applied for this grant.
